EMTP Advanced Elder Mediation Program
Course Description
Building on the knowledge and skills learned in the EMTP Core Program, this intensive three-day (24 hours) program will immerse participants in the practice of Elder Mediation. It is anticipated that participants in this advance-level course will have had previous mediation training and experience, and will be able to apply and integrate that knowledge to this specialized practice within the conflict-resolution field.
Interactive learning will include group discussions, demonstrations, simulations and role plays of real case studies, and participants will receive immediate feedback from coaches, instructors and classmates.
This course is rich in opportunities to be creative, to experiment and to build self-confidence in the safety of an open learning experience, and is intended to expand the participant’s repertoire in ways that will be immediately applicable to their practice.
This course was designed to fulfill the standards and objectives for training recommended by the National Elder Mediation Network Training Work Group and documented in the Code of Professional Conduct for Mediators specializing in issues of aging by Elder Mediation Canada.
