Carolyn MacAlpine BSW, Acc.FM (OAFM)
Carolyn has worked with families in transition for over 20 years. She is a recognized family mediator, specializing in complex and multi-dimensional family disputes in both the separation and divorce and child protection fields.
Carolyn has extensive knowledge and experience with the Ontario Court of Justice, as an on-site mediator and Family Information facilitator, and as the Court Liaison Worker for the Kawartha-Haliburton Children’s Aid Society (KHCAS). She is uniquely qualified, as a result of these roles, to combine the talents and resources of the family, other professionals, community resources and the Judges who preside over family law matters, to mediate and foster resolution of the issues at hand.
Carolyn also has a passion for training. She spent 13 years working with the Victoria County District School and the Niagara South Board of Education as a behaviourist where her interest in training about children and families evolved. Her more recent training endeavours have included Mediation and Alternate Dispute Resolution training for lawyers, judges, mediators, and child protection workers.
Her interest in different mediation approaches lead her to participate in the pilot project for the Kawartha-Haliburton Children’s Aid Society utilizing PRREP™, an mediation model designed by her colleague, Resa Eisen. With the success of the pilot, the KHCAS adopted this program for the next five years, and Carolyn was the lead mediator as well as co-teacher of the program.
She is a Certified Child Protection mediator and Family Group Conference Facilitator, and is an Accredited Family Mediator through the Ontario Association of Family Mediation.
